Approximately 77,000 people in Chicago are experiencing homelessness, with almost 30% of those people under the age of 18. These people are at an increased risk of contracting a chronic illness, COVID-19, or becoming victims of human trafficking. Your donations to Zakat Chicago can save lives by supporting transitional housing operations and other emergency sheltering for Chicago’s homeless.
Our work does not end with supporting housing options. Rather, Zakat Chicago also supports organizations that provide emergency supplies to Chicago’s homeless. Together, we are able to distribute food, water, snacks, and seasonal supplies (for example, tents, heaters, and blankets) as needed to various organizations in the area.
